The Burundi Kibira Peaberry is a part of the Long Miles Project, founded by Ben and Kristy Carlson. This initiative started in 2011 as a way to try and combat the injustice and poor farming practices that were permeating the country’s, at the time, newly privatized coffee industry. It has since enabled great success for the country's coffee farmers, with microlots from the Long Miles washing stations consistently placing top 10 in the Cup of Excellence competition. It has also allowed roasters much easier access to this high quality coffee!
Full City (light) roasted and full bodied with medium acidity. This peaberry variant (aka the infertile coffee seeds that only make up about 5% of any given crop) offers a slightly sweeter profile than its flat bean counterpart. Expect some nuttiness, notes of dark chocolate, and a dry finish.
