One of the world's prized coffees, it is grown in the highlands of northern Sumatra in the Malay Archipelago of Indonesia. The plantations grow coffee trees at altitudes up to 5,000 feet and use a combination of wet and dry processing methods. The term Mandheling refers to the name of the people who traditionally farmed and processed the coffee bean. A bold coffee low in acidity, Mandheling is full bodied and mellow, with a rich chocolate and caramel taste that lingers in each cup.
This is the full city roasted version of the bean. You can check our full selection of Indonesian coffees to see the darker roasts we do for this bean as well!
I’ve been with Armeno since 2018, and this Sumatra Mandheling has always been my favorite. Smooth, bold, and full of rich chocolatey flavor - it never disappoints!

It's not the $10/lb coffee, but a bit burnt for my taste this time around.

Incredible bean for espresso
This variety makes incredible tasting espresso drinks (with milk) and is not too difficult to produce a consistent extraction if you are careful.
