Sumatra Mandheling French Roast
Our Sumatra Mandheling is brought to a degree darker than that of our full city and Viennese Roast, resulting in our ever popular French Roast. The caramel notes of a regular Sumatra Mandheling carry over, but are intensified to a syrupy finish that's balanced with the earthiness of an Indonesian coffee. Lowest in acidity, strong, bold, and decadent -coffee enthusiasts rejoice!
One of the world's prized coffees, it is grown in the highlands of northern Sumatra in the Malay Archipelago of Indonesia. The plantations grow coffee trees at altitudes up to 5,000 feet and use a combination of wet and dry processing methods. The term Mandheling refers to the name of the people who traditionally farmed and processed the coffee bean.

I started buying coffee from Armeno just after they opened and we lived in a neighboring town. We've moved away, but I still buy Armeno's Sumatra Mandheling French Roast, now on subscription. This bean is low acid and heavy bodied. Shortly after I started buying it, I decided to experiment with blending with Yemeni Mocha and Puerto Rican Yauco. This is now my daily coffee brewed in a French press. I have never found any other coffee I prefer. Armeno is great about my occasional need to manipulate the subscription: it's very simple on line. When I had to suspend coffee for a period due to severe illness, I did that by email with no problem. They're great to do business with.
Armeno's Sumatra Mandheling French Roast hits all the right notes for an all day, every day, cuppa (especially if you have a sensitive tummy). We like it so well that I just had a couple pounds of beans shipped to my brother and sister-in-law and they love it, as well.
One of us (RM) used to live part time in central Massachusetts and pick up beans at the mill house (and produce at the farm across the road). After moving full time to the outer edges of civilization, we have made all coffee purchases via mail order through Armeno's website. Without a doubt the smoothest transactions with flawless delivery. He loves the whole operation so much it makes his teeth hurt. Hurray for Armeno!
