Founded by Ben and Kristy Carlson in 2011, the Long Miles Project was created to help counteract the injustice and poor farming practices that they witnessed permeating the country’s, at the time, newly privatized coffee industry. Their washing stations in the villages of Bukeye, Heza, and Ninga aid microlot farmers in producing a high quality end product with much greater consistency, to the point where many of them are now frequently placing top 10 in the prestigious "Cup of Excellence" international coffee cupping competition. They now work with over 5,500 coffee farming families on eleven different coffee producing hills in Burundi!
Done to a Full City (light) roast, this bean is heavier bodied than our other African beans. Expect a smooth and savory flavor profile with some earthiness up front and sweeter tones of chocolate & caramel on the finish.
